Xiaomi Auto’s SU7 Ultra prototype has set a record at the famous Nürburgring track, becoming the fastest four-door car to complete the challenging track with a lap time of 6 minutes, 46.874 seconds. This achievement didn’t come easy, as Xiaomi faced several weather-related setbacks. After initial attempts on October 9 and 10 were disrupted by rain, Xiaomi finally secured a successful run on October 28.
During a one-hour window on October 28, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype started its lap at 11:50 a.m., crossing the finish line six minutes later. Nürburgring officials later confirmed the record-breaking lap time, marking a significant milestone for Xiaomi Auto.
The SU7 Ultra, a high-performance version of Xiaomi’s all-electric SU7 sedan, was unveiled by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in July. It boasts Xiaomi’s V8s motor with a peak output of 1138 kW (1526 hp), reaching speeds of 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and topping out over 350 km/h. Weighing 1,900 kg, the car is powered by a triple-motor setup, offering both speed and efficiency.
Renowned driver David Pittard, a recent winner of the 2023 24 Hours of Nürburgring, drove the prototype on its record lap. Xiaomi plans to officially unveil the production model of the SU7 Ultra later today, with full details and specifications. This production model is expected to retain the core structure and high-performance features of the prototype and will launch in the first half of 2025.
Xiaomi launched the SU7 lineup on March 28, offering three versions: the Standard, Pro, and Max, with prices starting at around $30,200. The SU7 Ultra, aimed at the luxury electric vehicle market, is projected to be priced at approximately $112,000.
