Preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are underway as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi expressed satisfaction with ongoing construction efforts at the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi.
Making his first visit to the venue since work began in August, Naqvi was briefed by officials from the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), who reported that the foundation pillars for a new building have been completed.
During his visit, Naqvi recommended key enhancements, notably suggesting an elevated position for the digital scoreboard. “The digital screen should be set high to give fans an uninterrupted view of the match,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of a premium viewing experience, particularly for fans expected to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year.
Naqvi also advised that parking facilities be located closer to the stadium, streamlining access and convenience on game days. Confident in the stadium upgrades, he stated that Pakistani venues will meet international standards.
Karachi Stadium is slated to host three matches during the upcoming Champions Trophy in February/March next year with Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, undergoing its very own facelift, hosting seven and Rawalpindi hosting five games.
PCB had earlier decided to improve the conditions of each venue to offer a premium experience to the visitors next year.
PCB is hopeful of completing all the necessary primping ahead of the December 31st deadline before the 2025 Champions Trophy.
