In a bid to bolster border security, the government has announced mandatory biometric verification for all international travellers at airports nationwide.
Under this new policy, biometric machines will be installed at immigration checkpoints to screen passengers before they board flights, aiming to strengthen identity verification and prevent individuals with criminal records from leaving or entering the country undetected.
The Interior Ministry underscored the initiative as a pivotal step in curbing the movement of wanted suspects and aligning Pakistan’s security framework with global standards.
Officials highlighted that the deployment of biometric systems would streamline the identification process and enhance overall security measures at international entry and exit points.
The ministry has tasked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) with overseeing the swift implementation of these biometric systems, intending to complete the setup at all international airports without delay. This move is seen as part of a larger security overhaul to improve the nation’s travel and border security infrastructure.
