Pakistan’s squash sensation Asim Khan, fresh off a recent PSA title win at the Charlottesville Open, is set to compete in the London Open Squash Championship starting today.
This prestigious tournament, part of the PSA World Tour, boasts a prize purse of $33,000 and will see Khan as the sole representative from Pakistan.
The 60th-ranked Asim Khan will take on New Zealand’s Temwa Chileshe, currently ranked 104th, in the first round of the London Open. A victory in this initial face-off would propel Asim to the second round, where he’s slated to face top-seeded Frenchman Auguste Dussourd with the match taking place tomorrow.
Asim has had a strong season, capturing his first PSA title in September with an impressive victory over England’s top-seeded Nick Wall at the Charlottesville Open. He also claimed the Jones Creek Open Squash Championship title in the USA, marking a successful tour ahead of this week’s London event.
The 28-year-old is also coming off most recently as a runner-up at the Mile High 360 Classic.Â
The Lahore-born talent continues to make a name for himself in the world of squash despite receiving little support from those responsible.Â
