Pakistani batter Saud Shakeel has taken a hit in the latest update of the Test batters rankings issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Saud, who is Pakistan’s sole representative in the top 10, has dropped two places from the previous spot. With Pakistan not playing any Test cricket since the 2-1 series win over England, the rest of the pack had the opportunity to go past the talented left-hander in the rankings.
The 29-year-old now sits 9th in the table ahead of Marnus Labuschagne in the 10th place. Rishabh Pant and Daryl Mitchell used Saud’s absence from cricket to improve their rankings after starring for their respective teams during the final two Tests between New Zealand and India.
Saud’s loss has been others’ gain as Babar Azam (up one place to 17th), Salman Agha (up one place to 19th), and Mohammad Rizwan (up two places to 20th) see their rankings improve.
Saud Shakeel and other players will have a chance to improve their Test batters’ rankings during the upcoming series against South Africa.
