Pakistan’s opening batter Saim Ayub has expressed confidence in his ability to play well against any opposing bowlers irrespective of their stature in the cricketing world.
He made the statement after scoring 82 against Australia in the second ODI to help his team draw level in the series.
When asked about facing Mithcell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins in the post-match interview Saim simply replied,
Whoever is bowling, the ball is coming out of the hand, it’s not any other thing. It’s about watching the ball and being positive.
Saim Ayub, who was playing just his second ODI for Pakistan against the world-class bowling line-up of Australia struggled early on in the innings as the ball moved around off the pitch.
He soon found his footing though smacking five 4s and six 6s on his way to 82 before being dismissed by Adam Zampa as the only wicket taken by the hosts.
If not for Haris Rauf’s heroics with the ball, Saim was the obvious choice for the Man-of-the-match award.
He and his teammates will look to get the job done in the final ODI when the two teams meet in Perth on Sunday. The series between Pakistan and Australia is all tied at 1-1. Fans are hopeful Saim Ayub and Pakistan carry the winning momentum into the series decider.

This knock came at the right moment. The people of Pakistan were beginning to lose faith in Saim Ayub. I hope from now on he becomes a permanent feature in our playing XI
