The Government of Pakistan has issued a stern warning to foreign nationals, urging them to refrain from participating in political events within the country. The announcement follows reports of foreign individuals taking part in recent protests. The Foreign Office (FO) has labeled such involvement as “illegal.”
During her weekly press briefing in Islamabad, FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch disclosed that Afghan citizens had been detained during protests in the federal capital. She stated that the Ministry of Interior would soon release details about the arrests.
“Participating in political protests while residing in another country is a clear violation of the law,” Baloch emphasized. Addressing other matters, the spokesperson categorically denied any ongoing negotiations between the government and the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
She added that engaging in talks with the TTP would be disrespectful to the victims of terrorism and their families. Baloch also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering good relations with all nations, clarifying that improved ties with one country do not imply strained relations with others.
She declined to comment on Israeli leadership’s statements regarding Iran’s nuclear program but highlighted Pakistan’s strong condemnation of Israeli aggression in Palestine. She called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions, welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon, and demanded an unconditional ceasefire in Palestine.
