Punjab to Recruit Teachers for Over 2,200 Vacant Posts

The Punjab Education Department has submitted a revised list of 2,226 teacher vacancies to the provincial government for direct recruitment across the province. This step aims to address the shortage of educators in schools under the department’s jurisdiction.

In a formal communication to the School Education Department, the Director of Administration for the Directorate of Public Instruction (SE), Lahore, highlighted the updated list of vacant positions.

The revision reflects the current staffing requirements in schools across Punjab. The breakdown of vacancies includes 225 positions for headmasters (Grade 17) and 302 for headmistresses.

Additionally, there are 521 openings for male subject specialists and 586 for female subject specialists in Grade 17. For senior subject specialists (Grade 18), the list notes 289 vacancies for men and 303 for women.

The letter urged the government to review the revised list and initiate the recruitment process promptly. These efforts are part of the department’s commitment to improving the quality of education by ensuring adequate teaching staff in public schools.

The Education Department’s move is seen as a crucial step toward addressing teacher shortages, which have been affecting the learning environment and overall educational outcomes in Punjab.
