Luke Wells delivered an outstanding all-round performance to guide Lahore Qalandars to a nail-biting four-run victory over Hampshire Hawks in the fourth match of the Global Super League (GSL) at Providence Stadium.
Qalandars’ Innings
Opting to bat first, Lahore Qalandars posted a modest 135/5 in their 20 overs, thanks to a late surge by Luke Wells and Muhammad Akhlaq after an early collapse.
The Qalandars were reeling at 6/2 in the fourth over after losing Mirza Baig and Asif Afridi cheaply. Adam Rossington and Mohammad Faizan steadied the ship with a 31-run partnership before Benny Howell dismissed Rossington.
Wells and Akhlaq’s unbeaten 44-run stand in the final overs propelled Qalandars to a competitive total.

Hawks’ Chase
Hampshire Hawks fell agonizingly short, scoring 131/8 in their 20 overs.
The Hawks struggled to build partnerships as opener Tom Prest top-scored with a brisk 30, but the middle order failed to provide support.
James Fuller’s late heroics, including two sixes in the final over off captain Carlos Brathwaite, brought the Hawks within striking distance. However, with five runs required off the final ball, Fuller managed only a single, sealing a four-run victory for Qalandars.
Standings Update
The victory lifted Lahore Qalandars to fourth place in the GSL 2024 standings with two points from two matches. Hampshire Hawks, despite the loss, remained third in the table.
