Intel has launched its first two graphics cards built on the new “Battlemage” architecture, dubbed the Arc B580 and B570. Instead of numbers, Intel is using letters for its GPU generations.
As per Intel’s testing, the Arc B580 is faster than Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060 for less money, providing a major bang for your buck.
The B580 is priced at $250, while the slightly cheaper B570 comes in at $220. Both utilize the BMG-G21 chip but with different configurations. The B580 boasts 20 Xe2 cores, 12 GB of VRAM on a 192-bit bus (456GB/s bandwidth), and a 180W TDP.
The B570 features 18 Xe2 cores, 10 GB of VRAM on a 160-bit bus (380 GB/s bandwidth), runs at lower clock speeds, and has a 150W TDP. Both cards are powered by a single 8-pin connector. The image below shows a more detailed breakdown.
More significantly, the new $250 Arc B580 outperforms its predecessor, the Arc A750 (also launched at $250), by an average of 24% at 1440p resolution. Intel’s tests also indicate the B580 beats the slightly more expensive Nvidia RTX 4060 by 10% while offering more VRAM (12 GB vs. 8 GB).
The new Xe2 architecture, featuring the 19.6 billion transistor BMG-G21 chip (compared to the A750’s 21.7 billion transistor ACM-G10), delivers improved performance in a smaller package.
Intel’s Xe2 cores deliver a 70% performance boost at maximum capacity and are 50% more power-efficient than the previous generation Alchemist cores. They also incorporate new XMX AI engines to accelerate ray-tracing.
XeSS 2 With Frame Generation and More
Recognizing the importance of software, Intel is launching XeSS 2, which adds Frame Generation and Low Latency features to its super-resolution (upscaling) technology, rivaling Nvidia’s frame generation and Reflex technologies.
Here are the games that will support XeSS 2 soon:
- Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
- Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
- RoboCop: Rogue City
- Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
- Dying Light 2 Stay Human
- Ascendant
- Marvel Rivals
- Killing Floor 3
- Citadels
The Intel Arc B580, including a Limited Edition with dual fans, launches on December 13th. Partner cards from Acer, Asrock, Gunnir, Maxsun, Onix, and Sparkle will also be available. The more affordable Arc B570 arrives on January 16th.
