Nothing Has Three New Phones Coming Up Soon, With a Shift in Chipset Usage

Rumors have emerged that Nothing is working on three new smartphones, adding to its growing portfolio. While early reports assumed that one of these devices was the highly awaited Nothing Phone (3), recent findings suggest otherwise.

The device with model number A059, spotted on Geekbench, is now believed to be the Nothing Phone (3a). This was confirmed after its listing in an IMEI database, where another model, A059P, was also identified.

In Nothing’s naming convention, the “P” denotes “Plus,” implying this device is the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus. The third device, with model number A001, was also revealed in the same database. While some speculate it could be the Nothing Phone (3), there is a possibility that it’s the CMF Phone 2, aligning with Nothing’s plans for its cost-effective CMF sub-brand.

The Nothing Phone (3a) is expected to feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, a notable departure from the company’s previous reliance on MediaTek processors. The Nothing Phone (2a), for example, uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro, while the Phone (2a) Plus comes with the Dimensity 7350 Pro. The Phone (3a) Plus is anticipated to follow this trend, receiving a slight upgrade in processing power.

Interestingly, the rumored CMF Phone 2 is also expected to utilize the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, marking a potential standardization of chipsets across Nothing’s upcoming midrange and entry-level devices.

Expected Launch Timeline

Although no official announcement has been made, speculation points to all three devices launching with Android 15. The Phone (2a) debuted in March 2023, so its successor may follow suit with a release within the next 2-3 months.

As for the Nothing Phone (3), its absence in 2023 signaled a shift in Nothing’s strategy. The company confirmed that a high-end device would arrive in 2025, making the second half of next year a potential target for its unveiling.
