Apple has officially released iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 for all compatible iPhone and iPad models. Following a beta testing phase and two release candidate builds, the updates are now available to the general public, bringing a host of features and improvements.

iOS 18.2 introduces major updates, particularly for Siri, which now integrates with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This enables Siri to handle more complex queries by leveraging ChatGPT’s advanced capabilities while maintaining user privacy by ensuring requests remain anonymous. Users can also sign in with their ChatGPT account for additional benefits, governed by OpenAI’s data policies.
The update also includes Image Playground, a new app allowing users to create playful illustrations from text prompts and personal photos, and Genmoji, a feature for creating customized emojis directly from text prompts. Both features sync across devices via iCloud, ensuring seamless accessibility.

- Camera Improvements: Enhanced Camera Control provides interactive options for recognizing objects and locations with support for Google Search and ChatGPT. A new two-stage shutter feature allows for precise focus and exposure adjustments.
- Mail and Photos: Improved message categorization in Mail and video navigation in Photos enhances usability.
- Safari Upgrades: Background customization, import/export functionality, and HTTPS priority upgrades enrich the browsing experience.
General Improvements and Bug Fixes
The update addresses various issues, including photo visibility and Night mode performance. It also introduces layered recording in Voice Memos, enhanced location sharing in Find My, natural language search in Apple Music and Apple TV, and Sudoku puzzles for News+ subscribers.
