4 Pakistanis Jailed for Disguising as Police Officers and Robbing Other Expats in Dubai

Four Pakistani men have been sentenced to two years in prison each and collectively fined Dh1 million for impersonating police officers, as well as kidnapping and robbing two Indian nationals.

The incident occurred on March 29 within the jurisdiction of Al Rafaa Police Station. According to court records, a Pakistani driver working for the victims conspired with three other Pakistanis and a fugitive to execute the crime after discovering the victims were carrying a large sum of cash.

On the morning of March 29, while transporting the victims to Dubai’s Gold Souk, the driver informed the gang of their location. The gang, traveling in a black Kia, intercepted the victims near Al Mankhool. Two gang members posed as police officers, forcing the victims into separate vehicles.

The victims were then taken to Al Nahda, where the gang stole Dh1 million, two mobile phones, and two wallets before releasing them. The victims promptly reported the crime, leading to an investigation that resulted in the arrest of five suspects.

The fifth suspect, also a Pakistani national, was accused of conspiring with the gang but denied involvement during both the investigation and trial. The court found him not guilty due to insufficient evidence and corroborating testimonies from the other accused.

The court relied on confessions from the main suspects, witness statements, and police investigations. It was determined that the driver had provided the gang with information about the victims’ cash and movements. One of the accused was identified as the mastermind, while two others played significant roles in impersonating police officers and carrying out the robbery.

Following the completion of their prison sentences, the convicted men will be deported.

  • They should be hanged to death as they are tarnishing Pakistan and its people images. Fine and deportation is nothing. Death penalty will also be a lesson for others.
