Apple’s Cheapest AI Powered Phone to Launch in Early 2025

The iPhone SE 4, expected to debut in the first quarter of 2025, is shaping up to be a major upgrade compared to its predecessors.

The upcoming model will be the first iPhone to feature Apple’s in-house 5G modem, codenamed “Centauri,” signaling a significant step in reducing Apple’s reliance on Qualcomm. By controlling its baseband chip supply chain, Apple can cut costs and price the iPhone SE 4 more competitively.

Price vs Value

Recent information shared through a Japanese telecommunications channel and further backed by tipster yeux1122’s blog on Naver suggests that the  SE 4 will retail for under $500. While slightly higher than the $429 launch price of the iPhone SE 3, the new model offers significant upgrades, making it a compelling option. This pricing places the iPhone SE 4 far below the $799 starting price of the iPhone 16 series.

The Upgrades

Rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 4 will include significant updates internally and externally compared to its predecessor. Apple is ready to unveil the device with the A18 SoC, 8 GB of RAM, and a 6.06-inch OLED display. While the screen won’t include ProMotion support, the overall configuration still makes it a big improvement over the previous iPhone SE.

The inclusion of the A18 chipset, the same processor found in the base iPhone 16, ensures top-notch performance. Paired with 8 GB of RAM, the SE 4 will support Apple Intelligence, including generative AI features. Thanks to the A18’s improved Neural Engine and enhanced RAM, this will be Apple’s most affordable model to leverage AI capabilities.

Launch Timeline

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2025, although an official launch date has not been confirmed yet. Apple is also rumored to begin the year with the release of its M4 MacBook Air lineup, meaning the unveiling of the iPhone SE 4 could be part of a broader lineup of product launches.
