Pakistani snooker players are set to showcase their skills on the South Asian stage once again, with Pakistan announcing the squad participating in the 3rd SAARC Snooker Championship. The third edition will take place in Sri Lanka.
World Champions Mohammad Asif and Naseem Akhtar have been chosen to represent the nation in the 3rd SAARC Snooker Championship, slated to run from January 7 to 10 this year.
Asif, a previous two-time world champion, entered the tournament as a seasoned player with a reputation for his tactical approach and calm demeanor under pressure and needed every single skill acquired over the years to triumph in the final.
The PBSA is optimistic about the players’ prospects in championships, given their consistent performances on the international circuit. With a mix of seasoned professionals and emerging talent, Pakistan aims to make a strong impression in the regional snooker scene.
Ishpreet Singh Chadha won the previous edition which took place in Bangladesh back in 2022.
Pakistan’s rich history in cue sports adds weight to its aspirations in these championships. As the players prepare to take on regional rivals, fans back home will be keenly watching to see if the nation can add to its laurels in South Asian snooker competitions.
