During a recent visit to the National Police Academy, Mr. Naqvi conducted a thorough inspection of the hostels and mess facilities provided to probationary officers. He interacted with the under-training officers, inquiring about their accommodations and the services available to them. While visiting the officers’ mess, he sampled the food, assessed its quality, and expressed satisfaction with the meal provided.
Mr. Naqvi emphasized the importance of maintaining high-standard residential facilities for probationary officers. He directed the preparation of a new master plan for the academy, suggesting that it should be designed by an international consultant to ensure global standards. To support the academy’s development, he announced a grant of Rs. 250 million from the National Police Foundation, which will soon be handed over to the institution.
Highlighting the need for financial independence, he proposed transforming the academy into a financially autonomous institution. Mr. Naqvi set a three-month deadline for the completion of the academy’s re-organization and stressed the importance of taking immediate steps to grant the institution the status of a university.
He further directed updates to the ASP training courses to align with modern requirements. New courses focusing on counter-terrorism, anti-riot management, cybercrime, and other critical fields will be introduced at the academy. Mr. Naqvi emphasized the importance of appointing highly skilled officers to the academy, similar to the standards of the Military Academy Kakul, and assured better allowances and facilities for those serving there.
To enhance training, he announced plans for the establishment of a model police station and advanced training laboratories within the academy. These facilities will provide practical training opportunities to officers in key operational areas.
Additionally, Mr. Naqvi chaired a meeting to discuss the academy’s re-organization. He envisioned transforming the National Police Academy into an institution of international repute, capable of attracting officers from other countries for specialized training.
The visit concluded with the commandant of the academy and other officials briefing Mr. Naqvi on the ongoing developments and future plans for the institution. With his vision and directives, the National Police Academy is set to evolve into a premier training institution that meets global standards.
