Punjab Announces 1 Lac E-Bikes and 50,000 Scholarships

Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, announced an ambitious plan to distribute 100,000 e-bikes and 50,000 scholarships to students next year. The announcement was made during a ceremony at Okara University, where she also distributed scholarship cheques to students. As a token of appreciation, she was presented with portraits and photographs during the event.

In her speech, Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the Talented Students Scholarship Program is the largest initiative of its kind in the country’s history. “I’m here to speak my heart and to listen to the students,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to education.

 

She praised the efforts of Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat, saying, “He is doing an excellent job. Like a good student, he takes criticism but continues to deliver results.” She also urged everyone to seek truth in their endeavors.

Maryam Nawaz announced that next year, 100,000 students across Punjab would be given e-bikes, while 30,000 students would receive scholarships this year, increasing to 50,000 next year. She clarified that these scholarships are not acts of charity but a recognition of students’ merit and potential.

She further revealed plans to establish the Okara Medical College by 2025 and announced the arrival of the first shipment of laptops under a student support scheme. Maryam Nawaz assured that merit was strictly followed in the Talented Students Scholarship Program, adding that no student was asked about their political affiliations, and no scholarships were awarded based on recommendations.

The event concluded with Maryam Nawaz mingling with students, taking selfies, and interacting with the young women present, creating a cheerful and engaging atmosphere.
