PCB Chairman Gives Update on Saim Ayub’s Injury Ahead of Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has seemingly admitted defeat in getting Saim Ayub ready for the 2025 Champions Trophy. In a press conference, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the young left-handed batter will not be rushed, even if it means missing the competition next month.

Saim Ayub fractured his ankle during the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town, dealing a significant blow to PCB and Pakistan’s preparations for the marquee tournament.

Speaking to reporters in Houston, Naqvi confirmed his commitment to ensuring the 21-year-old batter makes a full recovery. “I am in touch with his doctors daily, and his ankle plaster will be removed in the coming days,” Naqvi stated. He added that the PCB’s focus is on Saim Ayub’s long-term career rather than risking his future for immediate gains.

“He is our asset, and we want him fully fit, no matter how much time it takes. I am personally monitoring his progress,” the PCB chairman said of Saim Ayub.
