CM Punjab Orders to Complete TORs for Free Plots

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has established an 8-member committee to finalize the Terms of Reference (TORs) for providing free plots to the public, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

During a meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed progress on three- and five-marla housing schemes under her vision to ensure that every homeless individual has a roof over their head. She set a target to construct 20,000 houses in Punjab by February and directed officials to meet the annual target of 100,000 houses at all costs.

Updates on Housing Development

  • The Chief Minister was informed that 35 housing schemes have been developed, and 2,807 plots have been completed in 22 districts of Punjab.
  • She instructed officials to expedite the development of 9 housing schemes comprising 1,119 plots across 7 districts.
  • Progress on the Apna Ghar Program was also reviewed, and recommendations for providing free plots to homeless citizens were discussed.

Key Achievements

  • Loans totaling Rs. 8.2 billion have been disbursed for the construction of 9,015 houses, with 2,050 beneficiaries receiving their second loan installment.
  • 4,841 houses are nearing completion under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar Program.

Public Interest and Participation

  • The Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar portal has recorded 728,000 visitors, and approximately 400,000 applications with complete documents have been submitted.
  • Over 74,000 draft applications have also been uploaded, and the submission of documents is ongoing.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated her commitment to accelerating housing development across Punjab, ensuring progress in housing initiatives, and providing free plots to the underprivileged.
