ICC Announce Ambassador for Champions Trophy 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled a stellar list of players chosen as ambassadors for the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has also been named among the event’s official ambassadors. The wicketkeeper-batter, who famously led Pakistan to its historic triumph in the 2017 edition, will play a key role in engaging fans and providing insights throughout the tournament.

Sarfaraz, who guided Pakistan to an emphatic victory over India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, expressed his excitement at being part of the event once again—this time as an ambassador.

“I will never forget how special it felt to don the white jackets and lift the trophy as Pakistan captain. Seeing the entire nation celebrate our success is a memory I cherish. I am delighted that the Champions Trophy is back and that Pakistan has the honor of hosting such a prestigious event.”

As part of his newly appointed role, Sarfaraz will attend matches, share his expert analysis, and connect with fans as the world’s top eight teams compete for the coveted title. Given his experience in high-pressure tournaments, his insights will add an extra dimension to the fan experience.

Alongside Sarfaraz, the ICC has also appointed Shikhar Dhawan, Tim Southee, and Shane Watson as Champions Trophy ambassadors, each bringing their own unique memories of the competition.

Shikhar Dhawan, Player of the Series in India’s 2013 triumph, emphasized the high-stakes nature of the tournament, where one bad day could mean elimination. Tim Southee, New Zealand’s veteran fast bowler, highlighted the intense drama of the Champions Trophy format, recalling how every moment can change the course of the tournament. Shane Watson, a two-time champion with Australia, described the event as a “do-or-die” battle between the best teams in the world.

As the world gears up for another thrilling edition of the Champions Trophy, the presence of past champions like Sarfaraz Ahmed ensures that nostalgia and expert analysis will go hand in hand with the excitement of the competition.
