Explosive Pakistani Batter Reportedly Set to Take Retirement After Champions Trophy

Pakistan’s cricket team could be in for a significant blow off the field, with reports suggesting that Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan’s aggressive opening batsman, is planning his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket following the conclusion of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The left-hander is currently battling hyperthyroidism and has been advised by doctors to rest for approximately two and a half months.

Beyond his health concerns, Zaman has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with certain selection matters, particularly regarding the issuance of No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for participation in cricket leagues. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to issue an official statement on Fakhar’s reported plans to retire from ODI cricket. However, sources close to the player suggest that this may mark the end of his international career in the 50-over format.

Pakistan’s disappointing early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy also opened a door for Fakhar Zaman’s retirement. The team, which entered the tournament as both the host nation and defending champions, failed to make it past the group stage.
