In a significant boost to women’s football in the country, Pakistan has officially joined 33 other teams in the race for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026—Asia’s most prestigious women’s national team competition. A total of 37 Member Associations expressed interest for a chance to join hosts Australia, as well as China, Korea Republic, and Japan, in the tournament, with eight berths up for grabs.
Pakistan’s place in the competition had been uncertain due to recent turmoil within the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
