Pakistan’s position in the World Happiness Report 2025 has slightly declined, slipping to 109th place from last year’s 108th. However, it still ranks higher than its regional neighbors, India (118th) and Afghanistan (147th).
South Asia’s Performance
Among other South Asian nations, Bangladesh (133rd) and Sri Lanka (134th) follow closely, while Iran, despite hosting a 3.9% refugee population, performs better at 99th place. China leads Asia, securing an impressive 27th position.
Global Rankings
Finland retains its title as the world’s happiest country, followed by Denmark and Iceland. Other countries in the top 15 include Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Norway.
Meanwhile, both the United States and the United Kingdom have seen significant drops. The US now stands at 24th, its lowest ranking ever, while the UK has fallen to 23rd, marking its worst placement since 2017.
At the bottom of the list, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe rank among the least happy nations.

Published by Gallup and its partners, the annual report evaluates 147 countries based on happiness levels, using quality-of-life surveys conducted between 2022 and 2024.
This year’s findings emphasize the impact of social support, income, personal freedoms, life expectancy, and corruption on global happiness. The report also highlights the growing importance of “caring and sharing” in enhancing well-being.
