Lahore’s schoolchildren will see a shift in their daily routine as the Punjab government has announced a temporary change in school timings due to the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL X) matches in the city.
According to a notification, all public and private schools will follow new timings from April 3 to April 21. During this period, schools across Lahore will operate from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The decision was made to ease traffic congestion and ensure student safety around PSL match venues, where heavy security arrangements and road blockages are expected.
Meanwhile, in a separate move to tackle the rising temperatures in the province, the Punjab School Education Department (SED) has issued revised summer timings for all public schools, effective from April 7 to October 15.
As per the SED notification:
Additionally, school heads are allowed a 15-minute flexibility in adjusting opening and closing times for boys’ and girls’ schools based on local conditions.
The School Education Department has directed all District Education Authority (DEA) CEOs to strictly implement the revised timings. Any school failing to comply may face disciplinary action, including legal proceedings.
