Is Mohsin Naqvi Resigning as PCB Chairman?

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has moved swiftly to dismiss rumors surrounding the resignation of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, following his recent election as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Over the weekend, social media and various sports news outlets were abuzz with speculation suggesting that Mohsin Naqvi’s new responsibilities at the ACC might lead him to step down from his PCB role. However, PCB officials have firmly denied these claims, labeling them as “baseless.”

According to local media sources, a senior figure within the board was quick to clarify the situation, stating, “There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation. He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and is fully dedicated to the advancement of Pakistan cricket.”

Naqvi’s election as ACC President in early April marked a major milestone for the country, as he became the first Pakistani to hold the prestigious position since 2008.

Despite the demands of his dual roles as both the Federal Minister for Interior and now the ACC President, PCB officials have expressed confidence in Naqvi’s ability to juggle each position effectively. The board reiterated that managing such high-profile roles is not uncommon, provided that proper time management is employed.

“It is a matter of great pride for Pakistan that our representative is at the helm of the ACC,” the official added. “Mr. Naqvi has no plans to step down from his position at the PCB, and he remains fully committed to his duties.”

With his leadership at the ACC now confirmed, Naqvi’s influence in regional cricket affairs is set to grow. How this affects cricket in Pakistan will be answered in the coming months.
