Peshawar Zalmi just unleashed their PSL X anthem, “Zalmi X Legacy,” and it’s less a song and more a cinematic flex that leaves other franchises—PSL and IPL alike—gawking like starstruck fans. This isn’t just an anthem; it’s a full-blown short film with not one but two tracks stuffed in. Overkill? Oh, absolutely, but Zalmi’s never been one for subtlety.

The whole shebang kicks off with Mahira Khan, Pakistan’s queen of poise, dishing out a pep talk to players and fans about the Zalmi spirit. She glosses over their single PSL title in 10 years like it’s a minor footnote—because, let’s face it, Zalmi’s the people’s champ every season, trophy or not. Cue eye rolls from Islamabad fans, but Mahira sells it like a pro.

Then we get a CGI-fueled vignette of a sports car tearing through a city, driven by a hooded Babar Azam (we think). He hops out to bat for a bullied Peshawar Zalmi kid, which is heartwarming if you don’t overthink the logistics. Enter the first banger: “The Journey Home” by Kashan Dawar, featuring Aima Baig, Bilaal Avaz, and Wajid Layaq. It’s a superhero vibe—Aima channels her inner Ariana Grande, Bilaal mixes AC/DC’s Brain Johnson high notes with some R&B swagger, and Saim Ayub dramatically defies doctors to play for Zalmi (*cough* not Pakistan). It’s epic, but not quite the “Kingdom” high of 2021.

Mahira’s back with more inspo, then bam—second anthem: “Dust of War” by Kashan Dawar, with Mustafa Zahid, Altamash Sever, and Mustafa Kamal Khan. This one’s got that Peshawar instrumental soul, lyrics like “yeh talwar sab se lari hai” turning bats into swords, and a war-ready beat that’ll blast stadiums to bits. It’s the standout—cinematic and pump-up gold.

The production? Avengers-level. Javed Afridi’s crew has other teams clutching their pearls—IPL included. YouTube comments are a love-fest: “Zalmi outdid themselves!” and “This is unreal!” But is it their best? Nah. It’s too much—two anthems in one film is like eating biryani and pulao in one sitting.
