Multan Sultans have been forced into a mid-season reshuffle of their PSL 2025 squad after announcing the departure of their star spinner.
The franchise has confirmed that West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has flown back to Guyana due to a personal matter. In response, they have swiftly announced that Irish all-rounder Curtis Campher will join the squad as Motie’s replacement for the remainder of the campaign.
Motie’s departure comes as a blow to Multan, who had already lost Johnson Charles earlier in the tournament. Although Motie did not appear in any of the previous three games in his first PSL season, he was expected to play a larger role on more spin-friendly tracks later in the tournament. His exit due to undisclosed personal reasons leaves a gap that the Sultans will hope Campher can help fill in a different capacity.
Campher, meanwhile, brings a different skill set to the table. Known for his ability to contribute with both bat and ball, the 26-year-old has made a name for himself in international cricket with Ireland, famously taking four wickets in four balls at the T20 World Cup. His inclusion offers Multan a versatile option—he can float in the batting order and provide useful pace.
A veteran of 96 T20s, Multan Sultans will be hoping his addition can turn things around for the struggling franchise.
PSL’s most consistent team in history currently sits dead last in the PSL 2025 table, looking for answers from all around. Will Curtis Campher be the one to answer those calls? We will find out.
