The Sindh government has officially approved grace marks for students who appeared in the Intermediate Part-I (Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering) annual examinations of 2024 under the Karachi Board of Intermediate Education.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Universities and Boards, students will be awarded 20 percent grace marks in Chemistry and 15 percent in both Physics and Mathematics.
The decision was approved by the provincial cabinet in its meeting held on April 15, 2025. The notification, signed by Section Officer Sharifuddin, has directed the acting chairman of the board to implement the decision immediately.
At present, the Karachi Intermediate Board does not have a permanent chairman, and the role is being handled temporarily by the Chairman of the Karachi Matriculation Board.
This step follows the recommendations of a special cabinet committee, formed in response to a fact-finding report into the unusually low pass percentage in last year’s first-year results. The move aims to reduce academic pressure on students and address disruptions faced during the 2024 academic session.
