The Islamabad district administration sealed two shopping malls in Sector D-17 on Sunday for violating labor laws and failing to pay employees the mandated minimum wage of Rs. 37,000 per month, according to a report by 24News..
A spokesperson for the administration revealed that workers at these malls were made to work between 12 to 14 hours daily but were only paid between Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 20,000 per month — well below the legal minimum.
Additionally, employees were reportedly denied their entitled monthly leaves, with any absence being treated as unpaid leave.
The action was carried out under the instructions of Assistant Commissioner Islamabad, Yasir Nazir.
It is worth noting that the federal government had earlier instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad to strictly enforce labor laws across the capital.

Workers would leave if there was a better option available. Now they have made many people jobless in an economy that is going nowhere. This minimum wage luxury is for economies that are working well!
This good action must be appretiated.
But these crimes must be noticed all over Pakistan I have expetience of 33 years of of sales their r companies who take the advantage of being employer or boss give you letter to stop working due to economical conditions these companis should also be noticed and compell employer to give full pay unless the person did not find suitable job otherwise employer keep the job intact.
Some company give you letter that their ex MD make a mistake to hire you for Lahore Branch head as no MD is changed so your services are no morr required.
I gave you example of some companies who are injustice these companies should also be punished.

Well FYI D-17 is not a sector, Its a private society and property dealer made it D-17 because it is next to the sector D-16. It comes under rural Islamabad, not in the city.
Islamabad sectors are from A to I and from 1 to 16 only as per CDA master plan.
What about teacher’s salary .They are the foundation of any society who makes so many doctors engineer lawyer etc but no one can even think about them.management of every school grind them with work load but who cares ,their worth is less than a janitorial staff.
Could any NGO, concerned with the welfare of school- teachers, or any effective media entity, pick up this question and initiate an enquiry into the compensation packages, job security and career development issues of school- teachers in any one city for public awareness and corrective action?
Great initiative by relevant authority, now the point is… what benefits will be served to poor employees? Are they going to get the arriers! Or mall owners will pay the penalties to relevant’s authorities, and seals will be removed… Then malls owners will be continuing with their malpractices!
Today, whole world is celebrating the labor day, and I’ve seen a labour digging a pavement right next to my barber shop, asking the shop’s owner, bhai jaan aaj kis baat ka chootti hey (brother, why is the day off today)!
I was so embarrassed to hearing that question, as world is enjoying a day off on behalf of labour’s day, and this poor road worker doesn’t even know as to what is this public holiday is all about 😰
