Food safety teams confiscated 3,000 litres of substandard adulterated milk and 3,700 kilograms of hazardous meat during inspections in Lahore’s Tollinton Market and Adda Plot area.
According to the Director General of Punjab Food Authority, Asim Javed, a case was registered after dead chickens were discovered in a warehouse at Tollinton Market. The operation included inspection of 17 meat transport vehicles and a warehouse containing 43,000 kilograms of poultry.
In a separate crackdown, authorities set up strict checkpoints at Adda Plot, where they inspected 46,000 litres of milk being transported in 41 vehicles.
Asim Javed stated that a supplier was heavily fined for failing to comply with previous warnings. A detailed inspection by veterinary specialists confirmed that the recovered chickens were unfit for human consumption.
He added that the adulterated milk and meat were intended for distribution across various parts of Lahore.
