Ex-Cricketer Thinks This PSL Batter Should Replace Babar or Rizwan in Pakistan’s T20 Squad

Former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has raised concerns about playing both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan together in Pakistan’s T20 lineup. He believes that the team would perform better if only one of them is included, with the other spot going to a more aggressive batter.

Tanvir explained that while both Babar and Rizwan are talented, their similar playing styles often lead to slow starts in T20 matches. In the fast-paced T20 format, a slow beginning can put the team under pressure and make it difficult to catch up later. Although both players tend to increase their scoring rate as the innings progress, Tanvir pointed out that this is often too late to change the outcome of the game.

Sahibzada Farhan Leads the Worldwide Run-Scoring Charts in T20s This Year

He suggested that Pakistan should consider replacing one of them with a hard-hitting batter like Sahibzada Farhan, who has shown impressive form with a high strike rate in recent matches. Farhan has scored 245 runs in 6 innings with a strike rate of 161.18, compared to Rizwan’s higher run tally but lower strike rate.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam is not even in the top 10 in terms of runs scored, average or strike rate.

Tanvir also advised both Babar and Rizwan to adapt their game to modern T20 demands by playing more attacking cricket from the start. He emphasized that they don’t need to hit boundaries every ball, but must learn to accelerate early in the innings.

Specifically, Tanvir urged Babar Azam to expand his range of shots and take inspiration from players like Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson, who have successfully adjusted their styles for T20 cricket.
