In a major escalation late last night, India launched missile strikes on multiple locations inside Pakistan, leading to the martyrdom of eight Pakistani citizens and injuries to 35 others, authorities confirmed. The strikes reportedly targeted civilian areas, sparking outrage and heightening tensions across the region.
Following the attacks, major airports in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi were shut down as a precautionary measure. All incoming and outgoing flights were suspended, causing significant disruption to air traffic nationwide.
In swift response, Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes, targeting military installations. Military sources report that the response was calibrated but strong.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) to review the situation and discuss Pakistan’s military and diplomatic response. The meeting is expected to shape the country’s strategic direction in the wake of Indian aggression.
In a press briefing, Director General ISPR confirmed the locations of the missile strikes and detailed the human toll. He emphasized that the attacks had no military justification and were clearly aimed at civilian targets.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan strongly condemned the attacks. In an official statement, it called the strikes a “violation of international law” and said India would be held accountable on all global forums.
In a brief statement from the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump termed the situation in South Asia a “shame,” urging both nations to exercise restraint.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister confirmed that five Indian fighter jets were shot down by the Pakistan Air Force during the ongoing conflict. While local media claimed the downed aircraft included Rafales and MiGs, the minister declined to confirm the specific models.
In light of the situation, the Punjab government announced the closure of all schools, colleges, and universities across the province to ensure public safety.
Islamabad’s district administration also ordered the closure of all educational institutions until further notice, citing security concerns.
In a related move, all scheduled exams in Punjab have been canceled, with new dates to be announced soon.
