Tensions escalated in parts of Indian Punjab after separatist Sikh activists at Dashmesh College in Faridkot reportedly hoisted Pakistan flags and displayed anti-Modi artwork in response to overnight Indian military strikes that targeted civilian areas in Pakistan, resulting in 26 deaths and 46 injuries.
According to social media footage circulating online, the activists gathered at the college campus to express solidarity with Pakistan in the aftermath of the cross-border strikes. The group is said to have welcomed the Pakistan Army symbolically while unveiling artwork that sharply criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and condemned the recent military actions.
The demonstration came just hours after Pakistan confirmed that multiple regions, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, were hit in what Islamabad termed as unprovoked aggression by Indian forces. Among the targets were civilian residences and places of worship, leaving dozens dead or injured, including women and children.
