Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has broken his silence over the controversy surrounding his recent remarks about Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, stating unequivocally that his comments were taken out of context.
Rishad Hossain, who was representing Lahore Qalandars in this year’s PSL, was one of the foreign stars evacuated from Pakistan after skirmishes with India escalated.
Immediately after leaving the country, a story was published in Indian media attributing comments to Rishad regarding the situation that painted Pakistan in a negative light.
Rishad, however, said he was shocked to see headlines quoting him in a way that he believes misrepresented his message.
“Alhamdulillah, I returned home safely. But what was published later — I was never told it would go public. It was a casual conversation, not an interview. I was unaware that anything I said would be used that way,” Rishad clarified.
According to our well placed sources, the ‘journalist’ responsible for publishing just a brief snippet is working for an ‘organization’ that has been allegedly working to promote Indian agenda.
In a detailed interview carried out upon arriving Bangladesh, Rishad mentioned the truth behind the whole ordeal.
The complete transcript of his interaction available to Bangladeshi media, Rishad Hossain clearly emphasized that after some initial fear of the situation, neither he nor any of his colleagues ever felt their lives were in danger after being assured of the arrangements by the PCB. He also stated that he will happily return to complete his stint in this year’s PSL when it resumes, given that the situation between the two neighbors remains calm.
Despite the challenging experience, Rishad made it clear he still holds the PSL and Pakistan cricket in high regard. He praised his time with the Lahore Qalandars, saying he never once felt like an outsider.
“Lahore Qalandars felt like a family. I really enjoyed my first PSL experience. If the security is assured, of course I will come back to play. Why not?”
The leg-spinner also expressed gratitude to the PCB and BCB for coordinating the players’ safe return home, especially after the dramatic situation in Rawalpindi.
