Peshawar Zalmi will take the field in a special “Pakistan Edition” kit tonight as they face Karachi Kings in a crucial Pakistan Super League X encounter at Rawalpindi.
The kit is a symbolic gesture aimed at honouring the Pakistan Armed Forces for their bravery in foiling India’s plans during recent skirmishes.
The kit, which will be used in two games, features a striking green design inspired by the military uniform, blended with Zalmi’s traditional gold palette. The franchise confirmed the tribute is a show of solidarity with Pakistan’s troops, particularly in the aftermath of recent political and security unrest in the region.
Zalmi’s owner, Javed Afridi, had already announced a cash reward for the armed forces for their efforts in protecting the motherland.
The decision to launch this special edition jersey comes just days after the PSL was cleared to resume, following a temporary suspension due to escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. As part of the return to action, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has coordinated enhanced security measures for the remaining matches of the league.
This isn’t the first time Zalmi has used its platform to highlight national causes. The franchise is known for initiatives that blend sport with social messaging, including previous campaigns for education, peace, and national pride.
With four league-stage games left before the playoffs, Zalmi will be eager to put in a performance that matches the gravity of the occasion. But beyond points and playoff implications, tonight’s game will carry deeper meaning—one where cricket meets country.
