Date Announced for Distribution of Free Electric Scooters for Women in Sindh

In a major move aimed at empowering women and improving safe transport access, the Sindh government has announced plans to distribute electric scooters (EVs) to women through a lottery system next month.

Under the first phase of the scheme, 1,000 electric scooters will be handed out to female recipients. According to officials, all preparations for the program have been finalized. The initiative is designed to offer women a safe, affordable, and eco-friendly mode of transportation.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in Karachi. The session also reviewed the progress of various major transport projects underway across the province.

During the meeting, Memon emphasized that the EV scooter and taxi schemes will open up new employment opportunities for the youth. He further announced that the province will officially begin work on the EV taxi project in June.

This move follows other steps taken by the Sindh government to modernize the transport system while promoting sustainable and inclusive mobility options.
