Shaheen Shah Afridi has etched his name deeper into Pakistan Super League (PSL) folklore after his latest heroics during the league’s landmark 10th edition.
The Lahore Qalandars’ captain has now become the only bowler in the tournament’s history to finish as the leading wicket-taker in three separate editions after he topped the charts this year with 19 scalps. He also finished as the leading wicket-taker in 2020, 2022, and now in 2025.
In a league known for fierce competition and evolving pace attacks, Shaheen Afridi’s consistency across multiple seasons is nothing short of remarkable. Even as his international career has stalled a bit, his PSL numbers continue to make a case for him as Pakistan’s premier pace-bowling option.
The left-arm fast bowler first topped the charts in PSL 2020, announcing himself as a genuine T20 threat with his pace, accuracy, and early breakthroughs. He repeated the feat in 2022, this time adding more variation to his arsenal and cementing his place among the world’s elite.
His 2025 campaign further underscored his evolution. Leading Lahore Qalandars’ bowling unit yet again, Shaheen Afridi’s ability to strike with the new ball really shone through in the latter stages of the competition. While he did not have the best of beginnings, he roared into life when it mattered most, remaining a constant nuisance for the batters and delivering match-winning spells and critical wickets at key moments throughout the season.
With three seasons atop the bowling charts, Shaheen Afridi now stands alone in PSL record books—a testament to both his skill and his sustained dominance over the years. With 122 wickets to his name across eight PSL seasons, he is also poised to overtake Hasan Ali for the overall lead in next year’s edition.
As the PSL continues to grow and unearth new talent each season, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s legacy as a three-time top wicket-taker sets a new benchmark—and serves as a reminder of the standard required to reach the very top in franchise cricket.
