The Government of Pakistan has finalized a new Energy Vehicle Policy aimed at promoting the use and sale of electric vehicles (EVs) in place of petrol and diesel-powered vehicles. The policy is part of a broader effort to address environmental pollution and reduce the country’s reliance on fossil fuels.
The policy outlines a clear transition plan, focusing on reducing the use of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles by encouraging the production and sale of electric alternatives. According to officials, the shift is expected to contribute significantly to improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.
Licensing Framework for EVs
A dedicated licensing framework will be introduced to regulate the manufacturing and distribution of electric vehicles. This framework will establish specific conditions for companies seeking to produce or sell EVs in Pakistan. The goal is to create a structured, compliant path for the automotive industry’s transition.
Authorities believe the policy will have far-reaching effects beyond the vehicle market. By decreasing fossil fuel consumption, it may help lower Pakistan’s import bill for petroleum products and reduce the country’s dependence on non-renewable energy sources. Officials also expect the policy to support national efforts to meet environmental targets and energy efficiency goals
There is not enough ganja for these people. They naturally produce it.
People cannot afford evs. No one can buy them at this high level. Also how are you going to supply grid with ? Using fossil fuels. I swear it’s like Nero singing here.
Who is going to buy these evs when we can’t even afford them.

GoP is just gone cra, y, electricity price sky rocketing, they want public to use EV’s at the cost of ICE Vehicles to import bills…. World has just reversed this all EV only due to battery related high cost and biggest is it’s disposal, another environmental disaster…. and development of H2 fuel for ICE….. Had GoP ever thought of this, instead should move gradually. Further with increase of ST, prices moved Rs 9-10 lakh on EV’s in Pakistan… Seems GoP has no policy called sustainablility… Talking environment, does industry comply with epa laws….. It’s ZERO
Let us move slow in conversion from petrol to electric transportation. We have failed to produce completely locally manufactured car abd now this aim will be fuether delayed. Encourage use of solar in first stage to reduce co2 emission.
Even a country as big as India is unable to switch to EVs as mainstream vehicles aur yeh log karain gain. Delusions and nothing else. Half of the nation is unable to eat 2 meals a day and they want to force people to switch to EVs. Maybe we should have a look at our condition and prioritize accordingly rather than living in some dystopian fantasy world.
