The National Highway Authority (NHA) conducted a public auction of toll plazas, successfully auctioning 68 plazas located across the country.
The auction took place at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, with a large number of investors in attendance. The process began at 10:30 a.m. and was conducted transparently following special instructions from Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, according to a press release.
The minister congratulated NHA officials for carrying out the auction process successfully and said the initiative was aimed at offering fair business opportunities to investors and businessmen.
To ensure transparency, representatives from both print and electronic media were invited to observe the proceedings. The NHA had also launched a publicity campaign ahead of the event.
Among the auctioned toll plazas were those located in Jamshoro, Saeedabad, Moro, Kandiaro, Ranipur, Sadiqabad, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Kalashah Kaku, Gujranwala, Jehlum, Mandra, Karachi Northern Bypass, Nowshera, Mansehra, Hassanabdal, Makran Coastal Highway, and several others.
Officials said the public auction model would improve revenue generation and offer transparent leasing of toll collection rights on national highways.
