Pillion Riding Banned Across the Province for Two Days

The Punjab government has announced the imposition of Section 144 across the province from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram ul Haram to maintain law and order during the sacred month.

According to a spokesperson for the provincial home department, pillion riding will be banned on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. However, elderly citizens and women will be exempted from this restriction.

In addition, the display and carrying of firearms and explosives in public places will be strictly prohibited throughout the first ten days of Muharram.

The spokesperson further stated that chanting provocative slogans, delivering hate speeches, or making inciting statements and remarks will also be banned under Section 144.

Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with the law and warned that violators of these restrictions will face strict legal action. Law enforcement agencies have also been directed to ensure effective implementation of these measures across all districts.
