The official price of broiler chicken meat has been reduced by Rs. 14 per kilogram, bringing it down to Rs. 432 per kg from the previous rate of Rs. 446.
However, despite the official cut, overcharging is still being reported in local markets where chicken is being sold for Rs. 450 per kg.
The wholesale rate for live broiler chicken has been set at Rs. 284 per kg, while the official retail rate is Rs. 298 per kg.
Complaints have surfaced that sellers are charging up to Rs. 295 per kg for live chicken in the market, ignoring the government-fixed wholesale and retail prices.
