FIA Files FIR Against Its Officers For Bribery and Evidence Tampering in Afghan Visa Scam

The Federal Investigation Agency has registered the First Information Report (FIR) against its two officials on allegations of misusing as well as abusing their official positions, demanding bribes from the nominated accused in the Afghan Entry visa scam.

According to documents, an official of the FIA, Waseem Ahme,d was doing an investigation into the Afghan Entry Visa scam.

The official Waseem Ahmad had also taken the physical remand of accused Zubair Ahmad from the Judicial Magistrate, Islamabad, who granted remand for recovery and investigation.

On 10/11 July 2025, during midnight hours, Waseem Ahmad, along with Aqib Mehmood Constable, came to Lock-Up and get accused Zubair Ahmad out of Lock-Up and managed a telephonic call to his son.

Waseem Ahmad and Aqib Mehmood Constable also demanded Rs. 2,000,000/- from his son for facilitation during physical remand as well as sending him to judicial lock-up after expiry of said physical remand.

Due to this telephonic call, Waseem Ahmad managed to delete valuable data records from electronic devices (which were taken into possession through a seizure memo in the said Case FIR. No. 242/2025) by sharing passwords of digital media with his son.

Waseem Ahmad FIA AHTC ISB and Aqib Mehmood/Constable FIA AHTC ISB, by misusing as well as abusing their official positions, demanded bribes from the nominated accused person to facilitate him.

According to sources, senior officials in the Ministry of Interior’s visa section and Border management control are also under investigation in the Afghanistan Entry visa scam.

The said scam has been going on for the last three to four years with the active connivance of MoI officials. Sources further added that law enforcement agencies have also started gathering information related to renewed visas, as there are reports that officials are allegedly minting money on the renewal of visas as well.

Sources said that the government is also considering a major reshuffle in the MoI in the coming days due to bad governance.
