Frontier Constabulary to Be Transformed into National Federal Force

The federal government has decided to reorganize the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a nationwide force, to be known as the Federal Constabulary, sources told state-run media on Monday.

According to details, the newly named Federal Constabulary will have the authority to operate across all four provinces, as well as in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The move is aimed at strengthening internal security and improving coordination between regional law enforcement bodies.

Sources revealed that officers from the Police Service of Pakistan will lead the force under the new structure. The transformation is expected to be formalized through key amendments to the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915, which are likely to be approved by the federal cabinet.

Once cleared, a presidential ordinance will be issued to extend the force’s jurisdiction nationwide.

Recruitment for the reorganized force will take place on a countrywide basis, and regional offices of the Federal Constabulary will be established across Pakistan. According to PTV, the move is seen as a strategic step to reinforce the internal security framework by centralizing command and improving mobility and deployment across regions.

Security analysts consider this a significant step toward strengthening federal control over law and order, especially in the face of evolving security challenges.
