Pakistan Railways has decided to hand over the management of 11 trains to private companies once again. The move aims to enhance passenger services and boost the department’s income.
The list of trains slated for privatization includes Hazara Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Millat Express, Rawal Express, Badar Express, Ghauri Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Mohenjodaro Passenger.
Railway officials have announced that interested companies can submit their bids until August 12, with technical proposals set to be opened on the same day.
In a separate move to enhance travel standards, Pakistan Railways announced plans to introduce dining cars, onboard kitchens, and complimentary services on several major trains. Pakistan Express, Karachi Express, and Millat Express will soon feature dedicated dining coaches, while Jaffar Express is set to receive an in-train kitchen facility.
Passengers traveling between Lahore and Rawalpindi on trains such as Subak Raftar, Subak Kharam, Islamabad Express, and Rawal Express can also expect free onboard services to improve their journey experience.
To support these upgrades, the Railway Headquarters has issued a tender for outsourcing catering services, with interested firms invited to submit their proposals by August 5, 2025.
