The Punjab traffic police have launched a province-wide crackdown on lane discipline violations, issuing fines to over 594,000 individuals so far this year.
According to a spokesperson for the traffic police, more than 400,000 of these challans were issued specifically for violating lane and line rules. The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to ensure safer and more organized traffic across the province.
DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir stated that the introduction of dedicated green lanes in major cities, including Lahore, has helped streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion.
In other districts, he said, traffic police have successfully implemented lane discipline by placing cones on roads to guide vehicles into proper lanes.
The DIG added that the goal is not only enforcement but also public awareness. A traffic education campaign is currently underway to inform citizens about the importance of following road rules, particularly lane discipline, for the safety of all commuters.

I think the traffic police has a long way to go. People neither follow lanes nor any other basic traffic rules. people don’t even know how to turn from a street to a road
Differ with respect to. Traffic wardens never bother to fine tinted windows, high beam and use of hid, using mobile phone and going slow on fast lane. Even underage people driving green number plates cars can be seen. As an everyday commuter i observe it more and more.
Green plates are above the law .
Can’t our nation learn self-discipline? Sorry, I haven’t seen any other nation in the world that is such a big violator of traffic rules.

One way violation is more bigger challenge than lane discipline.. Plz do focus on that as well… Specially it seems bikers have been given clean chit by traffic police for one way violation
Today a vigo stopped in the middle of road.covering 30% for 5 minutes jist for picking his family while 70% of road was blocked with ,illegal stalls,parked vehicles.guess what other drivers did? Honk honk…meanwhile traffic police = wiped out from the face of.the earth.l
I mostly see 4 to 6 warden ( 3 to 4 of whom are having 2 to 3 phool on shoulder) are standing and chatting on road, occupying left lane , (causing congestion on the inter section) . The 80 % of victims are mother cycle, helmet case. No check on SUV, applied for cars, line crossing, tri wheel loader motorcycle( which are unregistered, and cause traffic hindrance due to slow speed when loaded and driving in middle lane). Very poor training and performance by this dpt.
To implement lane deciplin violation is a great step to regulate driving. It will decrease road congestion and traffic jam
