This New Vivo Phone Brings 6,000 mAh Battery and 90Hz Screen for Below $180

Vivo has launched two new entry-level 5G smartphones in China, the Y50 and Y50m, offering budget-conscious users long battery life and essential 5G capabilities. Both devices share identical hardware, with the only difference being memory configurations. The Y50 includes a 4GB RAM variant, which the Y50m does not.

Design and Display

The Y50 and Y50m both feature a 6.74-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. Each device measures 167.3 millimeters in height, 77 millimeters in width, and 8.2 millimeters in thickness, weighing about 204 grams. They carry an IP64 rating, making them dust-tight and protected against splashes. The Vivo Y50 and Y50m are available in three colors: Azure, Diamond Black, and Platinum.

Internals and Software

Powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, the phones run on Vivo’s OriginOS 5. Storage options include either 128GB or 256GB, and both models support microSD card expansion. The Y50 is available with 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM, while the Y50m starts at 6GB, with 8GB and 12GB configurations also available.

Cameras

Both devices offer a basic camera setup that includes a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front camera for selfies. Video capabilities remain limited due to the entry-level positioning of the devices.

Battery and Pricing

A key feature of both smartphones is the large 6,000 mAh battery, supported by 44W wired fast charging. The combination promises extended use on a single charge and relatively quick recharge times.

The Vivo Y50 is priced at approximately $165 for the 4GB + 128GB variant, $205 for the 6GB + 128GB model, $275 for the 8GB + 256GB version, and around $315 for the 12GB + 256GB option. The Vivo Y50m is priced identically, except it does not offer the 4GB configuration.

It is unclear when these devices will become internationally available.
