Islamabad Gets ‘Police Station on Wheels’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday launched the ‘Police Station on Wheels’ project during his visit to the Safe City Capital Command and Control Centre.

The initiative aims to bring essential police services directly to citizens, particularly making it easier to file FIRs and access public services, including driving licenses for individuals over 60.

During the briefing, the Prime Minister was presented with the first honorary driving license issued through the mobile unit. He was also shown the first FIR registered via the mobile police station, highlighting its operational status.

PM Shehbaz toured several key facilities within the Safe City project, including the Online Women Police Station, Police Operations Center, Taxi Verification System, and the Hunch Lab. The system currently operates 3,257 surveillance cameras across Islamabad, helping monitor major events and emergencies.

It uses advanced technologies like AI and facial recognition to enhance security and prevent crime.

The Prime Minister also distributed laptops to young team members working on sensitive cases and praised the staff for their dedication. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to modernize law enforcement and improve public safety through innovation and technology.
