The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has announced that several of the city’s most popular parks and recreational sites—including Lake View Park, Daman-e-Koh, Pakistan Monument, and Shakarparian—will be closed to the public on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
The decision was made official through a notification issued by the District Magistrate’s office on August 12.
The closure applies for the entire day and is part of a series of administrative measures being taken in the federal capital. Relevant authorities, including the Chief Commissioner’s Office, Islamabad Police, Capital Development Authority (CDA), and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, have been directed to ensure the order is implemented.
Earlier today, a local public holiday was declared for August 13 in Islamabad. As per an earlier notification, all offices within the revenue limits of the federal capital will remain closed on this day, with the exception of essential services such as the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), CDA, ICT Administration, ICT Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), and hospitals.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly, as both the closure of major parks and the public holiday will affect normal routines in the city. The measures come ahead of Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, which will also be observed as a nationwide public holiday, giving Islamabad residents two consecutive days off.
