After moving against small vehicles without green stickers, the Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has begun taking action against commercial vehicles lacking a VOX fitness certificate.
A special desk of the EPA, established at the Safe City Authority offices, has started issuing warning slips to violators.
EPA Director General Imran Hamid Sheikh said on Thursday that heavy transport vehicles without a valid fitness certificate were contributing significantly to air pollution. He noted that the VOX certificate was mandatory for checking vehicle fitness and engine emission standards.
According to the EPA, 391 warning slips have been issued over the past 10 days through Safe City cameras. Each slip allows a seven-day period for compliance. Officials said that once this grace period expires, vehicles found without certification will be impounded, heavy fines will be imposed, and route permits will be canceled.
The initiative follows earlier enforcement steps taken against small vehicles operating without green stickers, which indicate compliance with emission standards.
