In view of the growing dengue outbreak, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office has issued fresh directives cancelling all gazetted holidays for health workers to ensure uninterrupted anti-dengue operations in the city.
According to a notification issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (HQ), all officers and officials engaged in dengue-related work will now treat Sundays, public holidays, and even religious holidays as regular working days until further orders. The directive also specifies that 12th Rabi-ul-Awal will be observed as a normal working day for staff involved in prevention and control activities.
Meanwhile, the District Health Authority confirmed 10 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours. At present, 21 patients are under treatment in different hospitals, bringing the total number of reported cases to 188 since January 2025.
Health authority spokesman Dr. Waqar Ahmad told reporters that all employees, including senior officials, will continue their duties on Saturday, despite the cancellation of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday. The move aims to keep the anti-dengue campaign active amid rising infections.
